چکیده

In this paper four-wave mixing (FWM) and its impact on multi-span NRZ-modulated wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems are examined. The impact of the inline dispersion compensation map on FWM impairments is crucial. From re-circulating loop experiments as well as our analytical model worst-case conditions for the dispersion map are found. Furthermore, the impact of increasing the number of WDM channels is investigated. An analytical model is presented to assess the signal degradation. The impairments due to FWM are related to a Q-factor or an EOP. The presented formulas are applied to different dispersion compensation schemes and also mixed-fiber systems. The analytical model is verified by system simulations employing the split-step Fourier method as well as recirculating loop experiments.

Suppression of Four Wave Mixing Based on the Pairing Combinations of Differently Linear-Polarized Optical Signals in WDM System

Data transmission in optical systems and increased transmission distance capacity benefit by using optical amplification wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology. The combination of four waves (FWM) is a non-linear effect in the wavelength division multiplex (WDM), when more than two wavelengths of light in a fiber launch will occur. FWM amount depends on the channel, the channel spaci...

Four Wave Mixing Nonlinearity Effect in WDM Radio over Fiber System

The optical networks are fast and error free but due to some nonlinearity effects, its performance degrades. The performance of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) in radio over fiber (RoF) systems is found to be strongly influenced by nonlinearity characteristics inside the fiber. In this paper, we have studied the effect of four wave mixing (FWM) as one of the influential factors in the WD...
